Back in the day, I remember stringing little things together just to make my style feel pretty.
And honestly, it was not always pretty.
I was making beads out of spit paper and putting them on my ears like earrings. I was taking glued paper and wrapping it around my arm like I had made myself a paper slap watch.
Even then, kids laughed and said I was doing too much.
But as I got older, I learned how to string real beads together. That is when I started making my own arm candy bracelets.
And it never fails, even to this day, somebody will say, “Wow, I love it, but that is too much jewelry to wear.”
Not knowing I wore jewelry period just for me.
Accessories became a part of my own personal confidence, part of my self-esteem and its part of the way I want to show up for myself.
So yes, maybe it is too much for somebody else.
Although, I am in a new era (social media internet) where style/fashion changes every second on the clock.
I am still wearing what’s going to make sense to me, and I Smile when my little ole’ cheap jewelry is too much for someone else.
And that is okay.
Question: What is your passion? The essence of who you are and want to become.
It is no secret I love jewelry, and that has never changed even when I stop creating for a while. My life has been booked and busy, and that is about to change so I can see life and all it has to offer more clearly. Social distancing has gotten me to thinking about other things to do when it comes to my crafts.
Making jewelry is easy, and I am often asked about each piece I wear. If I could tell any woman about my story, it will definitely be during my bead making time. Because that is when I am feeling more relaxed and carefree from the world.
I find that I love sharing each idea and my crazy style with those who inquire.
Today I tuned the world out so I could make sense of my next two steps as the year goes by.
And one thing I can tell you having a hobby outside of work is so mind refreshing. This year I will be taking another type of jewelry class as soon as Michael's craft store offers one.
I want to learn more about pewter and metals so I can create more unique items to wear. Oh, don't worry, I have a few tricks up my sleeves for the remainder of the year.
One thing I am the happiest about right now is that all my local craft stores are open. I can spend hours walking around the jewelry sections of Hobby Lobby and Michaels. You already know I stay up and current on any sales when it comes to grabbing some really cool beads.
Fun Fact: Saturday's before the store closes is the best time to shop. There are a lot more markdowns, and it's super quiet, so there is no rush.
Two weeks ago, I bought a bead tray to hold all my materials, such as transparent stretch cord, needle nose pliers, jump rings, and other things.
Now, when it comes to making the bracelets I am wearing, you will need only three things. Your beads of choice, look for items that fit your style. Do you like glass or wood beads? Also, I use a strong stretchy cord, jump rings, and lots of charms.
Everything I use comes from my local craft store. I will only order wholesale if I plan on selling them.
My larger bracelets come from my local thrift store during my thrift snooping trips. :)

In conclusion: That focus today is getting back on track with my first love (crafting) and writing all about it. Oh, and possibly making videos as well. No matter what happens, I will be doing what brings me the most joy, and that is all I will be putting out into the world.
