Would You Wear This to a Wedding… or Is It Doing Too Much?

Hey Funky Friend Picture this...

Your old college friend is getting married. The invite says “semi-formal,” the wedding’s at a cute outdoor venue, and you haven’t seen these people in years. You scroll through your closet… and then you see this dress. That mustard yellow, tiered ruffle dress you only wore once on an unexpected date. You plan to pair it with a studded leather jacket although it's sticky and muggy feeling outside. You are wearing boots that say don’t play with me. And you began to  think: Would this be doing too much?

Now pause.

Is it “too much”?

Or is it exactly enough for the woman you’ve grown into?

But the truth is — this look says everything without you saying anything.

Let’s break this down like we’re on the phone with our bestie.

Yes, the leather jacket is loud. Yes, the jewelry is layered like you came to serve a sermon at Roscoes Chicken And Waffles Church House. And yes, those boots have kicked their fair share of opinions to the curb. #realtalk

It says:

I didn’t come to fade into the crowd and I know this wedding is not about me but I want to be seen too. #truestory

So the real question isn’t “Would the bride think your'e doing too much?”

Would you wear this Funky Grunge Style to a wedding?

Drop your honest answer in the comments — and tell me what you'd pair with it to make it even more you. A scarf? Bigger earrings? Or maybe just a red lip and no apologies.

Would you wear this to a wedding?

And don’t worry. Around here, “doing too much” is the whole point.

At the end of the day, Your wedding or Her wedding: Wear What The FUNK You Want. And That's On Every FUNKY Thang.
