And Keep Friends That Love All Sizes of You!
Hey Funky Friends 👋🏾,
Here’s your FUNK for today:
-Surround yourself with people who love you through every size, every style, and every stage of life. Period.
So, last week, I got a private message that really stuck with me.
It read:
"I like to wear dresses, but the fit just isn’t becoming on me.
No matter what style I try, my friends always say,
‘That dress doesn’t fit.’I used to be a size 10, and now I’m a 2XL.
Should I stop wearing smaller sizes and finally accept that I’m bigger now?”
Oweee. First off … let’s talk about it.
Dear Funky Friend,
I get it. I truly do. I’ve gained weight, lost it, gained it again—
and for years, I kept trying to squeeze into the same old clothes,
like that was some kind of proof that I hadn’t changed. 9True Story)
But guess what? I had changed. And that’s not a bad thing.
First things first—let’s ditch those friends.
If you didn’t ask for their opinion, and they’re out here throwing shade instead of support?
They are not your people. Girl, they no yo peoples.
Now, since you did ask me—here’s what I’ll say:
Yes, it’s okay to love the size you once were.
But it’s even more powerful to love the you that exists right now.
If the dress doesn’t fit, just switch it!
Buy the same dress in your current size.
Add jewelry. Throw on a statement shoe. Layer it up. Or don’t.
Wear what makes you feel lit up and alive.
Style is about expression—not restriction.
You sound like a positive person, so give yourself that same kindness
when it comes to your wardrobe. You deserve it.
No More Waiting to Wear the Dress
Let’s say this together:
We are done waiting to be smaller to be seen.
🙌🏾 Somebody say Amen!
We are done holding our joy hostage
until we “earn” it by shrinking.
We are done hiding behind baggy, boring clothes
to cover up bodies that deserve to be celebrated.
This movement—Wear What The Funk You Want—
welcomes all sizes, all ages, all vibes.
This isn’t about settling.
It’s about showing up fully, right now.
So if that means going up a size? So be it. Girl, trust me it’s ok and your true friends will appreciate and love every inch of you.
Also, play with your style and If it means rocking a bigger dress then add bold colors, chunky boots, and layered necklaces. Girl, do it. Do it all. And don’t ask permission.
In conclusion, 2025 is the year of becoming that woman who is happy in all areas of life , love, our job, personal style and our body size. And that’s on Every FUNKY thang!
