It's funny how when you're younger, you think style has an expiration date. Like one day you're going to wake up and suddenly feel like you have to swap your leather jacket for something "more appropriate." Like your closet is supposed to age the same way your driver’s license does. #girlbye
But the truth is- It doesn’t work like that. At least not for me.
The way I dressed in my twenties — lowkey, I still love that vibe. And I don't plan on changing it anytime soon. I still get excited throwing on a vintage tee I found at a flea market when I was 23. I still feel like me when I wear a denim jacket three sizes too big and boots that have seen better days. Yes, I like it grungy:)
But, that energy I felt then — wild, free, fully alive — it’s still here. I’m just a little out going now.
Somewhere along the way, I realized: there are no real rules when it comes to style. Honestly? Rules are fake. Who decided you can't wear leopard print and neon in the same outfit? Who said pastels are only for spring? Not me. Not anymore. Ok ( I Used To feel that way, when I was a copycat). But, now that I am older ditch what you see on social media and on your job.
Mix the patterns. Layer the textures. Clash the colors. Wear glitter to the grocery store. Put a leather jacket over a ballgown if you feel like it. Because when you dress for yourself — when you wear what actually makes you feel alive, that’s when it gets fun.
That’s when it gets real. And Folk will notice when you dress your authentic self. And you will feel less frustrated when getting dressed for any occasion.
And here’s the kicker, maybe the most freeing thing of all: nobody actually cares how you dress.
I mean it.
Nobody’s sitting around analyzing whether your skirt "goes" with your boots. Nobody is taking notes on whether you're dressing "for your age" — whatever that even means. Most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to notice whether your socks even match. And the people who do notice? They're either secretly wishing they had your confidence, or they don’t matter anyway. Let them watch and read.
It’s not that deep. It's your energy that matters. The way you light up when you feel good in your own beautiful skin. The way you move when you know you look like yourself, not like an Instagram ad or someone else's Pinterest board.
That’s what Wear What The Funk You Want is about.
It's real freedom. It's dressing for you... not them.
It's permission (not that you needed it) to stop waiting for someone else to approve your outfit, your vibe, your whole existence. It's the reminder that your style can grow with you without losing its soul. It's a love letter to the you that never stopped wanting to feel simply cute when getting dressed in the morning.
So today — and tomorrow, and all the days after — I hope you throw on whatever the funk you want. I hope you remember that your closet isn’t a prison, it’s a playground. I hope you stay a little messy, a little loud, a little too much.
Because too much is exactly enough.
And if you ever start to doubt yourself — if you ever hear that little voice creeping in telling you you’re "too old" or "too bold" or "too weird" — remember this space, this energy, this movement. Remember that you’re not alone.
We’re out here, still vibing.
Still mixing & Matching.
Still wearing whatever the funk we want. :)
You with me?
Let’s funk it up.
