Things I Find Quite Funky: My Observation

Things I Find Quite Funky: My Observation!

I finally figured something out. I've found a few things that are quite funky for the average woman like myself. I'm not a stylist, I'm not a fashionista, and I'm definitely not someone who studies trends for a living. I just want to look cute without feeling like I have to perform every time I leave the house.

The older I get, the more I see my style as a canvas instead of a rulebook. I want to create a simple vibe that feels like me, not a character I'm trying to play. Somewhere along the way, social media convinced us that we have to choose one style identity and stick with it forever. One day you're scrolling Pinterest, the next you're wondering if you're supposed to become a minimalist, a bohemian girl, a maximalist, or whatever new aesthetic the internet came up with this week. Sometimes it honestly feels like standing in a bowl of fruit where someone is asking you to decide if you're an apple or an orange. I know that sounds silly, but that's exactly how the internet makes me feel sometimes. It somehow  nudges you into believing your style needs a niche, when in reality most of us are just trying to run
errands, meet a friend for lunch, go on a date, or pick up groceries without looking like we rolled out of bed.

The truth is, none of us have to show up every day dressed like we're walking in New York Fashion Week. Real life is much more relaxed than the internet makes it seem, and I think that's a good thing.

So today I wanted to share a few things I personally find quite funky. This isn't fashion advice because I don't believe there are any rules when it comes to personal style. Wear what you love. Wear what makes you smile. These are simply the little pieces that make my outfits feel a little more interesting without making me feel like I'm trying too hard.

The first thing has to be a good pair of sunglasses. I don't know what kind of magic they hold, but a cute pair of sunnies can completely change the mood of an outfit. I can wear a basic T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, throw on a fun pair of sunglasses, and suddenly I feel like I actually planned my outfit. Somehow they even change the way my face looks, and I'll happily take all the help I can get.

The next thing I love is a colorful scarf or a bright necklace. I especially love scarves because they're so versatile. You can wear one around your neck, tie it in your hair, wrap it around your handbag, or even use it as a little pop of color when everything else you're wearing is neutral. Give me an orange scarf or a bright yellow one, and I'm . instantly happier. It's such a small detail, but it's one of those things people actually notice

Another thing I find quite funky is wearing shoes that don't necessarily match the season. For me, that's cowboy boots. Yes, I wear boots in the summer, and no, I don't think twice about it. If I like the outfit, I'm wearing the boots. I don't really believe style has to follow a one straight line. I will always ride the curves of the road if I can be different doing so.

If something feels like you, then wear it. That's reason enough.

My last favorite little twist is a purse or crossbody bag with some personality. I have this ugly handmade  denim bag that honestly isn't anything special, but I love tying a colorful scarf around the handle. It completely changes the look, and suddenly my plain little bag has a bit of character. Sometimes it's those tiny details that make an outfit feel finished.

At the end of the day, these are just a few things that help elevate my very basic, average style. Nothing expensive, nothing complicated, and definitely nothing that requires me to become someone I'm not. I think personal style should feel fun, comfortable, and a little unexpected every now and then. It doesn't have to fit inside a category, and it certainly doesn't have to impress the algorithm.

I'd love to know what your favorite funky piece is. Is it a pair of earrings, an old jacket, a colorful bag, or maybe something completely unexpected?

Leave me a comment because I'm always looking for new ways to add a little twist to an outfit.

Until next time...
