Over the years, I’ve found some basic and not so basic shoes that have become staples in my style choices. Another all-time favorite is a pair of tall black faux boots with intricate buckles I found online. They’ve become my go-to for adding a touch of grunge flair to outfits.
Another great find was a pair of bright green monster fur heels with a chunky platform that I scored on my number one go-to site. They are odd-shaped and add the perfect color to my layered outfits.
Things I’ve Had To Re-Learn About My Style
Each pair of shoes I've found has its own story and charm. I’ve learned that the hunt is just as exciting as the find itself. Over the years, I’ve developed a knack for spotting the perfect pair, and I’m excited to share my secrets with you. Ok, that sounds so deep and cheesy.
1. Finding My Own Style Vibe
At the end of the day, no one cares about what I am wearing unless I am trying to be a social influencer. And that’s never gonna happen. But, playing with my own style was the first step in finding what works for me. I’ve asked myself this question many times, and it changed my whole life in terms of style. Am I into funky heels, vintage boots, gothic platforms, clothes, jewelry, etc.? Knowing what I’m looking for makes the shoe search easier and more enjoyable when I go shopping. Once I nailed down my style, I started focusing on finding things that truly reflected my personal style. I am a gal who re-wears the same type of outfit over and over, but my shoes and accessories are what I buy to mix things up the most!
My secret Shopping Spots Other Than Regular Smegular Stores.
Online Marketplaces
Websites such as eBay, Poshmark, and Depop are excellent for finding funky styles and brands. Use filters to narrow your search and set alerts for your favorite styles.
Consignment Shops
Consignment shops often carry higher-end brands and designer shoes at a fraction of the original price.
Estate Sales and Garage Sales
Don’t underestimate the power of estate sales and garage sales. People often sell items in great condition for very low prices. It’s a bit of a hit or miss, but when you hit, you can score big.
Vintage Boutiques
Vintage boutiques are a treasure trove for one-of-a-kind finds. They often curate unique collections that you won't find anywhere else. Plus, the quality of vintage shoes is often superb. That is my top-tier secret, and I visit my local ones frequently because every day there is new stock available.
Thrift Stores
Thrift stores are my go-to for unique and affordable shoes. Chains like Goodwill and Salvation Army often have a great selection. Don’t overlook smaller, independent thrift stores; they can be goldmines for unusual finds.
Now That I have gotten that list out of my system, allow me to share my fast-fashion sites. Although I love a good secondhand thrift hunt, I genuinely can’t find every single cute shoe at those outlets only. So, I love mixing old, new, and vintage things with a splash of weird, odd, and funky.
The best place to do that is my favorite place, Dolls Kill. I mainly wear their shoes and boots when I want something strange or weird. I love every collection that brings oddity to my style.
Betsey Johnson is my next and favorite shop. Her shoes and accessories are wild , cool and add a splash of umph to my style. Betsey Johnson shoes can be found online, at DSW, and Dillards.
Lastly, Finding funky, cute shoes is an adventure in itself #trustme. Whether shuffling through the racks at a thrift store, browsing online marketplaces, or browsing at a flea market, the thrill of the hunt is always my favorite. So embrace your unique style, get out there, and start your shoe-hauling journey. Who knows? Your next favorite pair might be just around the corner.
