Style in my 50s just hits differently now, and I’m not talking about trends or what a woman should or shouldn’t wear. I’m talking about dressing for my own confidence for the version of me that has lived experiences, learned a lot from my mistakes , and finally stopped caring about what anyone else thinks.
Somewhere along the way, I realized real-life style doesn’t have to stand out, it just has to feel like you. And at this point in my life, I just want to get dressed for me and let the world accept whatever I wear.
And when I say the world, I mean real people: my family, my friends, my coworkers, my neighbors, even the folks walking down the street or sitting on the bus with me. Those are my people. Honestly, that's the real world I live in. #realtalk
I’ve never been into trends, and truthfully, I don’t plan to start. Styling around what’s popular has never been my lane. But, what is in my lane is finding and walking into my own self confidence. The kind that comes from wearing what feels good, even if it doesn’t match or make sense to anybody else. #thatsFREEDOM
That’s why I feel a woman should wear what the FUNK she wants by any means necessary. Because real style isn’t about being perfect it’s about being present, It’s about showing up as yourself, every day, in color, in comfort, and in confidence.
Sometimes, all you need is just that: confidence, a little color, and a bag that you love. Because it’s not the outfit that makes the woman. It’s the woman that brings the outfit to life.
Lastly, I’ve reached a place where confidence feels better than perfection ever did. So whether I am getting dressed for work, a grocery run, or just another ordinary day with the hubs, I finally realize my real life style doesn’t need to be perfect to stand out. Just wear what feels like me.
And that’s what Wear What The FUNK You Want is all about showing up for yourself, in your own way, and loving what you see in the mirror. Because when a woman looks good she feels good and that’s on every FUNKY thang!
