My Three $2 Scores + How I Thrift Like a Beast

My Three $2 Scores + How I Thrift Like a Beast

Oh hey funky friend, listen… I don’t know about you, but a good thrift snooping day just does something to my soul. And let me tell you, I don’t always find something worth grabbing and sometimes everything looks tired and picked over. But when I give myself a little plan, I usually come out with a win. And today, I actually hit a lick.

That’s exactly what happened today. I walked in looking for long dresses and colorful leather jackets… because Texas winter is coming.  Everything looked a little crappy, and the aisles were packed with so many people looking for items as well. So, I started skimming the aisles real fast and I mean fast.

I skimmed and skimmed and didn’t see a thing.

But because I am  a funky gal who does NOT quit  I took my time and went right back through those same aisles. And good thing I did, because that’s when I spotted not one… not two… but THREE pairs of shoes that lit me right up.This girl was on FIRE:)

Now let me say this: as a 9.5/10 girlie, finding shoes in my size at the thrift is rare. So when I grabbed all three for two dollars each, I knew the thrift angels  were smiling at me.

First pair: teal buckle boots with a Free People tag. Retail $120. The thrift tag said $4.99, but since I came on $2 day:  thank you Jesus, I walked right out with them for the low. And they were barely worn. I already see them with a dress or some cropped flares. Stay tuned.

Second pair: these black-and-white knee-high Converse. Ok yes, maybe they’re a knockoff, but child… I still love them. They match my vampy dresses perfectly. And TWO dollars? Please.

Third find: these ASOS rocker booties — size 10, silver studs, buckle wrapped around the ankle… just screaming “bad chick.” Also two dollars.

So yeah. Three pieces. All in my size. All cute. All worth it.

Now let’s slide into these tips because y’all stay asking, “Tangie, how do you find this stuff?”

Here’s what I do, nothing fancy, just real life and timing.

HOW I THRIFT LIKE A BEAST (My POV)

Make a list or a mental note.
If I go in with no plan, I grab every cheap thing calling my name. And when I get home? Junk. Cute junk, but junk. Now I tune out all that “50 cents!! buy me!!” noise.

Know your style.
What somebody got on Instagram may not fit your everyday life. Once I learned my style for real like what I actually wear: thrifting became easy. I don’t even stop at the cardigan rack anymore because I know I’m not wearing that chunky style.

Try something different every now and then.
Buy something with straps. something with buckles. Maybe a funky blazer. Yes, try new things, but don’t waste money. If you’re not going to wear it… leave it.

Shop on sale days.

Dollar days, colored tag days, half-off days. They are packed, but that’s where the gems hide.

And have fun.
Thrifting should feel fun. Especially when you find something hiding behind the chaos.

Oh and always check the men’s section and the decor aisles. I promise you they are hiding stuff over there.

Even though I only found three things this trip, I was happy with every single one. I’m already ready to style them up. Which Pair Was Your Favorite? Let me know in the comments.
