Style Comes And Goes, But What You Want To Wear Never Goes Out Of Style

One thing nobody talks about enough is how trends really don’t matter. As a kid wearing hand-me-downs, I didn’t have the words for it then, but the kids teasing me were just being school bullies. Even as a teen and a young adult, the message was the same, someone always had something to say about what I should or shouldn’t wear.

And here’s what I know now, clothes are made to be worn. Period. They don’t need a price tag story, a trend report, or anyone else’s approval to be yours. #realtalk

When someone tries to control your style narrative, that’s not “style advice”  , that's bullying. Point Blank: Another Period! :)

Honey, trends will fade every single season, but your style and what you want to wear will never expire. That’s  probably why the things I loved wearing in my twenties still make me happy  in my fifties. And I wish I never threw away so many clothes because they are vintage now. The funny thing is I shop for the things I loved back in the day. Now, that I'm older I can clearly see what I like and don’t like. I have a sense of freedom when shopping , now I don’t care whats in or out. If I like it, I will buy it.

Honestly, not caring is exactly how you find your real style identity. It doesn’t come from social media, copying looks, or reading what someone else says is in. It comes from the freedom to wear what the FUNK you want and knowing that your true style can’t be copied, diluted, or erased. You are the style and it moves with time.

And before you come for me: yes, your look might get duplicated or called “not in style,” but at the end of the day, your style is personal. You control the narrative. And I love that for us.

So if my style is out of style to somebody else, so be it because my style makes me happy, and that’s all that counts. And that’s on every FUNKY thang!

Thanks for reading today’s short post. Drop a comment if you’d like, and I’ll catch you in the next one.

Wear What The FUNK You Want. And that’s on every FUNKY thang!
