Can Lipstick Elevate Your Style? A Pink Lip Changes Everything

“I’ve always believed lipstick was more than makeup. To me, it’s an accessory: The same way a funky pair of glasses or a head wrap can change a whole outfit, a bold lip can completely shift the vibe too.”

Says no woman who loves pink ever.

Honestly, I think pink lipstick has a personality of its own. One shade can make you feel soft and girly, another can make you feel artsy and bold, and another can have you walking around like you’re the main character in your own little movie scene. That’s why I’ve always looked at lipstick as more than makeup. To me, it’s an accessory. Just like scarves, funky glasses, jewelry, or a great pair of shoes, a lip color can completely change the vibe of your whole look.

And if you’ve been hanging around here long enough, then you already know I believe style is all about creating a feeling.

So let’s get into today’s little pink lipstick situation.

I walked into the makeup store for one thing and somehow walked out about seventy dollars lighter. Not because I went crazy, but because the lipstick counter started calling my name like an old friend I hadn’t seen in years.

I swear makeup stores are dangerous for women like me.

Now mind you, I only planned on buying one pink lipstick. I pinky swear

One. Just a cute little pink for spring and summer vibes. But somehow I ended up standing there trying on shades like I was auditioning for a Pink Lip Hall of Fame.

And honestly? I regret nothing.

The first color I tried was Pink Pigeon. Baby… this color right here was loud in the best way possible. Bright, bold, creamy matte, Barbie doll energy from the first swipe. The kind of pink that doesn’t whisper. It announces itself before you even say hello. I instantly knew this one was coming home with me.

But then the MAC girl started pulling out more shades. And, Ya’ll I lost my freaking mind. And that’s when the confusion began. I blacked out and started buying all colors.

Next came Candy Yum Yum, which instantly gave me that playful, bold, “I came to be seen” type of vibe. It reminded me of those fun over-the-top fashion moments where the lipstick becomes the outfit all by itself. This pink felt young, artsy, dramatic, and fun. The type of color you throw on with oversized sunglasses, big earrings, and confidence.

At that point, my little “just one lipstick” plan was officially over.

Then came the softer pink shade. Pretty? Yes. Sweet? Definitely. But it was lighter than what I usually wear, and on me it felt more like a lip stain than a full lipstick moment. Still, I could already picture it during summertime with oversized shades, a messy head wrap, and gold hoops while running around town on a hot day.

So of course… I bought that one too.

And honestly, this whole thing made me realize something: lipstick really is part of personal style. People always talk about clothes being the statement piece, but sometimes the lipstick is the statement. Sometimes the lipstick is what pulls everything together.

A black shirt and jeans can suddenly feel artsy with a hot pink lip.

A head wrap can feel glamorous with the right shade.

Big funky glasses hit differently when the lips are popping.

Even on days when your outfit is simple, lipstick can change the mood of the whole look.

That’s why I’ve never looked at makeup as trying to “fix” anything. For me, it’s about expression. It’s color therapy. It’s mood dressing. It’s another way to tell the world who you are without saying a word.

Some women collect handbags. Some collect shoes.

Apparently, I collected shades of pink lipstick I absolutely did not need. Ok, yes I do need them but do not tell my hubby  Rico.

And honestly? I’m okay with that.

Because style is supposed to feel funky, fun and flirty.

So tell me this: which pink are you grabbing first? The bold Barbie pink, the funky loud attention grabbing pink, or the softer everyday pink?

Until next time: Wear What The FUNK You Want and That’s On every FUNKY thang!
