6 Funky Ways I Styled Scarves & Goofy Glasses

I knew all those years of thrift snooping for scarves and goofy glasses would pay off one day. Back when my hair was blonde, I had more bad hair days than I care to admit. And as a stylist, I know how damaging heat and direct sun can be. Blonde hair, whether short or long, takes a beating. I was always looking for ways to protect my hair while still keeping my look fresh.

That’s when scarves and funky glasses became my secret weapon. They cover a rough hair day, shield from the sun, and add instant personality to a plain outfit. I’ve learned that I don’t always need to dress up sometimes it’s just about tying on a scarf, grabbing a bold pair of shades, and letting that be the outfit.

Sure, I have my perks when it comes to keeping my short mane tamed, but there are plenty of days I don’t want to do a single thing with my hair. On those days, I pull it back, tie it down, and let the accessories do all the talking.

And that’s exactly how I’ve been holding down Saturday to Friday: scarves, glasses, and the freedom to look funky and feel put together without the stress.

Saturday

A quick grocery store run. The weather was warm, so I wanted something that felt bright and happy. I reached for my green, blue, and white polka dot scarf and a big pair of bold white shades. Simple, but it made me feel fresh walking down those aisles.

Sunday

We couldn’t make it to church in person, but I still wanted to dress for online service. I brushed my hair back, tied on a red polka dot scarf, and added deep cat-eye shades. Both came from a Waco, Texas thrift shop I visited years ago when I stopped by the Magnolia Room. No, I didn’t meet Chip and Joanna  but the cupcakes were amazing.

Monday

Filming day. I tied on a brown striped scarf and wore open-face glasses so I could make a few videos and snap pictures. The scarf and glasses together gave me that “ready but not trying too hard” vibe.

Tuesday

I was bored, so I styled my hair down with a blue silk scarf and pulled out my John Lennon-inspired round shades. Sometimes a look doesn’t need a reason  it just makes the day more fun.

Wednesday

I wanted something with a little pop, so I tied on my orange printed scarf and matched it with brown clout shades. Both were resale finds, and together they gave me a funky, laid-back look.

Thursday

For a walk around the neighborhood, I tied on one of my bigger scarves ,something simple I could knot in the back and go. Practical, but still stylish.

Friday

Wash day. By now my hair needed attention, but I still had a Target run to make. I tied on a printed blue scarf and wore a pair of sleek black sunglasses. Hair not done, but style still intact.

Why I’m Love This

The truth is, dressing up every day isn’t always realistic, but it doesn’t have to be. Scarves and glasses are my go-to when I need a quick style boost. They protect my hair, add personality, and keep me looking just groomed enough to run errands or hop on a call.

All of these scarves and glasses came from second-hand, consignment, or resale shops. That’s part of the fun you never know what funky treasure you’ll find.

And Just Like That

There you have it: seven days of scarf and goofy glasses combos that prove you can protect your hair and still look beautiful, no matter what the week throws at you.

Which look was your favorite? And don’t forget  your style is yours alone. Play with your accessories, experiment with scarves, wear the big shades, and never be afraid to look a little funky.

Because at the end of the day, Wear What The FUNK You Want  and that’s on every funky thang!
